This week I read about nursing in the Middle Ages. Nursing was an under appreciated profession at that time. Those who were nurses were generally also drunk, immoral, illiterate, and/or prostitutes. Women lost the authority over nursing as men took it over. Nursing didn’t progress while the medical profession continued to advance. I think the best thing that came out of that era was the word nurse stemmed from the word sister. I love that it gives a kinship towards others and shows the relationship nurses have with their patients.
Hi, my name is Stephanie. I just graduated with my ASN and will start working at UVH on June 3rd. I have been asked to create a blog for a class that I am taking over the summer. This will be a place where I document the things I have done and learned as the semester progresses. I hope this provides me insight and will be beneficial.
